Love them or hate them, you have to admit the Duggars are far from being evil, harmful people. Some people enjoy watching every episode and some will not watch at all. That is a matter of personal choice, which we thankfully have in the United States.
We also have the right to take up petitions as part of the due process of the government. However, the government does not run the media ( thankfully), which is a free enterprise. But, a petition has been started asking for reality show, "19 Kids and Counting" to be shut down.
Apparently, the Duggars have expressed their own ( first amendment right) opinion on marriage and that has angered some people ( most of whom do not even watch the show or care for them to begin with).
It seems that some groups in out country cannot stand it when others express an idea that does not flow with their own ideas and opinions. Wouldn't you call that being a little thin-skinned? We are Americans and should be tougher than that and able to handle opposing viewpoints without falling to pieces.
The Duggars do no harm to anyone. Don't like them, don't watch their show.
The gays do no harm to anyone. Don't like gay marriage, than don't attend a gay wedding.
Criticize the Duggars if you want, but don't shut their right to speak. Criticize gays if you want, but don't shut down their right to speak. ( and get over being criticized, it happens to everyone!)
It is that simple. Everyone doing their own thing and saying what they want to say is part of the American way. Deal with it. Live with it.
